Cancer Support and Resources for Survivors

At Dr. Timothy A. Leach’s practice, we recognize that the journey of cancer doesn’t end with treatment. That’s why we are proud to partner with the Cancer Support Community of Walnut Creek to provide local resources for our patients.

The Cancer Support Community offers a wide range of programs and support services tailored to help cancer survivors navigate life after treatment. For more information, visit their website here.

Special Support for Cancer Survivors
Dr. Leach is dedicated to supporting cancer survivors by addressing the long-term effects of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgical treatments. Our practice offers reduced pricing in collaboration with the Cancer Support Community of Walnut Creek, helping survivors receive the care and attention they deserve without financial burden.

Addressing Post-Treatment Challenges
For many survivors, especially those who are unable to use estrogen therapy, the effects of cancer treatment can continue to impact quality of life. Common concerns such as painful intercourse (dyspareunia), night sweats, vaginal atrophy, and vaginal dryness/itching are important issues that we address in a compassionate, supportive environment.

Dr. Leach and our team work closely with patients to identify the best therapeutic treatments and offer tailored solutions to alleviate these symptoms, improve comfort, and support overall well-being. One of the effective treatments we offer is MonaLisa Touch, a CO2 fractional laser that gently revitalizes vaginal tissues. This non-invasive therapy is safe for cancer survivors and can help restore vaginal health, providing relief from dryness, discomfort, and atrophy.
We are here to help cancer survivors thrive long after their treatments have ended.

MonaLisa Touch for Cancer Survivors

What is MonaLisa Touch?

MonaLisa Touch is a CO₂ fractional laser treatment that gently revitalizes vaginal tissues, stimulating collagen production to restore natural lubrication and elasticity. The treatment can be especially beneficial for women experiencing menopausal changes, those who have noticed vaginal changes following childbirth, or those struggling with incontinence or weakened bladder control.

How Does MonaLisa Touch Work?

During the procedure, patients are positioned similarly to a routine pelvic exam, and the laser is directed to the targeted tissue. The laser energy encourages the production of new collagen, which helps improve the tone, elasticity, and moisture of the vaginal tissue. This quick, in-office procedure usually takes about 30 minutes and typically requires no anesthesia, though a topical numbing cream can be used for comfort if needed.

What to Expect After Treatment

Many women notice positive changes even after their first session. For optimal results, a series of 3 to 4 treatments, spaced about 40 to 60 days apart, is recommended. While most women experience little to no discomfort, it’s advised to wait three days before resuming sexual activity; all other daily activities can be resumed immediately.

If you’re looking to restore comfort and confidence, the MonaLisa Touch could be the solution for you. To learn more or schedule a consultation, contact Dr. Timothy  Leach’s office at 925-935-6952.
